Mini Wand Comparison Review

Helping you in Your Search for a Tiny Powerhouse

Wand vibrators are known for a couple of things, namely being loud, clunky, over-powered to the point of being painful, and EXPENSIVE. While that may have been true of devices in the past, industry growth means that consumers now have so many more options for wants that align with more people’s desires. Below, I’ve listed some wands available here at Spectrum Boutique along with some quick facts and things to keep in mind based on my experience with each one. This is not ranked or nearly an exhaustive list, but has enough variety to serve as a launch point in your hunt for a new wand!

One thing to keep in mind that was consistent across all the wands I’ll be discussing: because they’re made of silicone, they’re most compatible with water-based or hybrid lubes.

VeDO Wanda

  • Specs: One button for both on/off & pattern change, rechargeable with 1 hour of continuous battery life
  • Materials: 100% body-safe silicone, waterproof

Vibration type: Buzzy but quiet

The VeDO Wanda is a strong wand, ideal for people who are used to wand vibrators but don’t want to make the jump to some of the powerful mainstays of the field like the Hitachi or the Doxy. The large head (almost palm-sized for me) creates powerful, buzzy vibrations with 3 speeds and 7 patterns. Because the Wanda is so strong, it can get uncomfortable if you’re not used to the intensity or don’t have sufficient lubrication, but because it’s so powerful it actually works well for body massage too!

The head has a flexible neck, which makes it easier to maneuver during use, especially with a partner. The biggest challenge of the Wanda for me was the one-button navigation. Because the button is not strongly textured, it can be hard to miss especially with a lot of lubrication on your hands.

In general, the Wanda is too strong to be in my normal rotation, with its first power setting being about as high as the second or third on other vibrators I’ve used. The power jumps between speeds are also fairly significant. But, it is my go-to when I’m looking for something with a lot of power.

Nalone Rockit

  • Specs: One button for both on/off & pattern change, additional button for Touch Sensitive Mode, rechargeable with up to 2 hours of continuous use
  • Materials: 100% body-safe silicone, waterproof

Vibration type: Buzzy vibrations, relatively loud

I wanted to like the Nalone Rockit, but it seems like its Touch Sensitive mode is the major selling point and the rest of the functionality suffered as a result. The Rockit has 4 patterns and 3 speeds. First, the head is oddly shaped and HARD, and when combined with the buzzy vibrations almost immediately veers into the too-intense-and-not-actually-pleasurable zone.

Unlike a lot of reviewers I know, I don’t have an inherent bias against buzzy vibrators because I think they have their place, but the Rockit just doesn’t do it for me. The Touch Sensitive mode is enabled by a button press on the other side of the power button, and I’m genuinely confused at its purpose. The Touch Sensitive mode only enables vibration when pressed against the body, but you can’t change the vibration pattern or speed when it’s on. It’ll jump in power the longer it’s held against the body before coming back down again, so it’s like an extended pulse.

I struggle to see the appeal of Touch Sensitive mode as a selling point because it works like a normal vibrator, it just turns itself off once it’s not pressed against something anymore. I could see this being beneficial for users with mobility issues who may struggle to turn the buttons off, but that’s just an assumption I’m making. The Rockit is, however, the smallest of all the wands I tried in this set, which makes it effective for partnered use regardless of anatomy and puts it firmly in the small but powerful category.

Nalone Jane

  • Specs: One button for both on/off and pattern change, additional button for power to insertable end (5” insertable length), rechargeable.
  • Materials: 100% body-safe silicone, waterproof

Vibration type: Buzzy but quiet

Unlike the Rockit, Jane is disconcertingly soft, which creates a unique user experience. It’s not quite squishy but it’s definitely soft and bendable. The Jane has 7 speeds/patterns and each end has its own motor. While I liked the dual-endedness of the Jane, its size made it too cumbersome for partnered use so for me.

I did like its double-ended nature which isn’t something you come across often with wands, and in general, preferred using the insertable end to the wand head.

The texture also makes Jane feel odd as if I can feel all the mechanics inside. For me, the texture doesn’t really diffuse the buzziness too much which is a good thing if you don’t mind buzzy vibrators. There weren’t large power jumps between the speeds either, which makes it beneficial for people newer to using wands who are working their way up to acclimate to stronger vibrations. Pillowtalk Cheeky

  • Specs: One button for both on/off & pattern change, rechargeable with up to 2.5 hours of battery life.
  • Materials: 100% body-safe silicone, water-resistant

Vibration type: Rumbly vibrations, get buzzier as speed increases

The Pillowtalk Cheeky was a bit of a roller coaster for me. I expected to dislike this one the most when I first unboxed it because the big metal stripe across the middle of the head is visually off-putting even though I think the rest of the design and the Tiffany Blue color are gorgeous. Surprisingly, it turned out to be my favorite of the bunch. It’s the only wand of these four I’d describe as rumbly instead of buzzy which makes a big difference for reusability and comfort. The metallic stripe around the head is an odd design decision but isn’t something I could really feel during use so it turned out to be a moot point.

Although I liked this one the most because it was small enough for partnered use and powerful enough for solo play, it has two really frustrating functionality features that need to be pointed out. First, the charging port is on the bottom of the wand and is covered by a removable plug that isn’t attached to the wand itself. Meaning that you could lose the plug while charging the Cheeky and since it’s already not fully waterproof, this could reduce its water-resistance.

The second function that brought me endless annoyance is the power/control button. I’m a fan of single button operated toys, and because this one is decked out with a beautiful crystal, it’s hard to miss, which is something I don’t run into often with wands. That being said, the controls are what I consider counterintuitive. You press and hold the button to change the speed/pattern, and a single press turns the Cheeky on and off. I can’t count how many times I accidentally turned it off while trying to change the speed. Most sex toys work the opposite way, and while I can appreciate a quick turn on/off process it would have been better suited for a multi-button toy.

These are just a few of the many wands available for you at Spectrum Boutique. While some of them weren’t my favorite, bodies are different so I encourage folks to read more reviews and do some research because what didn’t work for me might be perfect for someone else. Buying a vibrator sight unseen requires a little bit of trial and error, but the selection at Spectrum is so extensive, I feel pretty confident saying that there’s something for everybody and every body.
