Sounds come in a variety of styles, and are used in slightly different ways. These are Hegar style sounds which are shorter, have two rounded ends, and are mildly curved in shape. They are also the one of the best shapes for beginners, and one of the most common styles. If it's your first time selecting a size, you should select a sound that is the largest size that can be fit into the urethra without any stretching feeling. Keep in mind that the urinary tract inside of a penis, is often wider than the urethra itself. While those equipped with vulvas sound as well, it's important to keep in mind that the urinary tract is much shorter. We recommend using sterile surgical lubricant (such as Surgilube) or antibiotic ointment (like Neosporin) as lubricant with all sounds.
