What are impact toys?

Impact play is the practice of striking or being struck by another person for sexual gratification. Types of impact play include spanking, punching, flogging, and whipping. Some of these actions only require the use of your hands, but others require tools or implements such as floggers, paddles, crops, canes, or whips

Whips:

The whip family is made up of two significant categories, single-tailed or multi-tailed. Single- tailed whips come in various lengths and are made of leather, vegan leather, or paracord that has been braided into a solid piece that includes the handle and a singular tail. Whips need more skill and care to use them properly and get them to land where you aim. The whip's tip is called a cracker, and when appropriately wielded, the cracker is what gives whips that satisfying snapping sound. Multi-tailed whips are also called floggers.

Floggers:

Floggers consist of several pliable tails or falls connected to a rigid handle. Their handles are usually made of rigid materials such as wood, metal, braided leather, or plastic. The falls of a flogger can be made of a number of materials cut into strips such as fabric, leather, rubber, and plastic. The number and size of the falls and the material they are made from determine the type of sensation / the amount of pain a flogger can generate.

Paddles:

Paddles are flat two-sided implements that consist of a handle and blade (body of the paddle). This type of impact play toy comes in various shapes and sizes, and they are usually made from wood, metal, thick leather, or vegan leather (polyurethane or PVC. While many paddles are made from one material, some paddles consist of a metal or hard plastic skeleton with leather or vegan leather skin wrapped around it. The sensations generated by a paddle depend on the type and thickness of the material used to make it.

Slappers:

Slappers are paddles with a second flexible blade that slaps against the main rigid blade of the paddle, creating a slapping sound when used. Some slappers have two flexible blades attached to a handle, and they tend to generate more noise than pain.

Riding Crops:

The riding crops used in kink/BDSM play are based heavily on the equestrian tool of the same name. The basic riding crop style consists of a handle attached to a thin shaft made of wood, plastic, or metal with a leather or vegan leather tip. Crops come in various lengths, and less traditional styles of crops change up the leather tips. You can find everything from heart, hand, or ball-shaped tips.

Canes:

Canes are long, narrow rods made of wood, rattan, bamboo, glass, acrylic, or metal. They come in various lengths, diameters and range from thin and flexible to thick and rigid. Some canes will have a designated handle at one end to help with gripping, but most do not.

Tips For Choosing Your Impact Toys:

Choose your Sensation

Impact play toys are usually categorized into one of two groups of sensations (thuddy or stingy). The thinner and more flexible the implement, the sharper and more on the surface the sensation. In contrast, heavier rigid toys with more surface area tend to give a deeper sensation.

Do you have space for that flogger?

Some impact toys like single tail whips and floggers need a lot of space to wield them properly. Make sure the area you'll be using these impact toys are large enough to extend your arms behind you fully and not knock anything over.

Buy From A Reputable Company.

Not all impact toys are created equally. Some items may seem like a great bargain, but they're made of inferior materials that can break easily. Make sure you purchase your items from a company you trust, like Spectrum boutique, where we have folks on standby ready to answer your questions about any of the products we sell.

Grab a Book or Two
