When I look at vibrators, I have pretty much two criteria. One, will it help me to achieve a good orgasm? Secondly, will it work well when I top in a kink or BDSM scene?
The Palm Power cordless vibrator has worked well for me in the past, whether it was used to have a fun personal orgasm, or whether I included it in a scene where orgasms were a part of the consented play. With this in mind, I was curious when I had the chance to test out the Palm Power Extreme from the great folx at Spectrum Boutique. But would the new toy prove to be bigger and better? Read on to find out!
Bigger and Better?
The Palm Power Extreme is touted as the most powerful motor made in the Palm Power line from BMS Factory. Palm Power wands are mainly cordless vibrators which are smaller in size while still providing adequate sensations. The Palm Power Rechargeable isn’t as powerful as a corded (or cordless) Doxy or Hitachi, but it’s not meant to be. The smaller Palm Power vibrators are as much about convenience as they are about functionality. They aren’t meant to be a replacement for bigger, more powerful toys.
Noticeably larger than the standard Palm Power vibrator and has an angled, ergonomic shape, presumably to make handling the larger toy easier.
The Palm Power Extreme (PPE) vibrator is targeted at a user who wants more power, but also wants the convenience of going cordless. The PPE is noticeably larger than the standard Palm Power vibrator and has an angled, ergonomic shape, presumably to make handling the larger toy easier. The underside of the PPE is textured with silicone to make holding the toy easier, which I found out comes in handy.
Getting Extreme
The “Power Bullet” is the motor that drives all of the Palm vibes and the PPE has the largest one manufactured to date. For the PPE, the power and function buttons are separate which I like. It makes things easier when you don’t have to worry about accidentally turning the toy off in the middle of a scene while fumbling through the settings. An LED light indicates when the vibrator is on, which can be helpful when playing in a darkened dungeon or bedroom. The PPE uses a USB outlet to charge.
The PPE offers a lot of options, with seven different vibration patterns. The first four patterns are incremental pulses that grow in intensity, the last three patterns being various rhythmic pulses. Increasing the power is achieved by holding the function button, pressing the same button allows the user to toggle through the different settings.
The PPE tends to produce buzzy, rather than rumbly sensations. I think that despite being powerful, the motor isn’t heavy or powerful enough to create deep, thuddy vibrations. This makes the PPE great for someone that loves buzzy vibrations, not so much for anyone that likes a toy that produces a thuddy sensation.
I can’t emphasize enough, the PPE is very buzzy and I tend to like sensations that are more thuddy when it comes to vibrators. The sensations it created felt pretty good, but I found it wasn’t quite strong enough to get me to a full orgasm, without using other means. This was surprising, because I have had orgasms from using the standard Palm Power vibe. This makes me pretty confident that the PPE could get me to orgasm without using anything else, provided I give myself enough time. I found that my favorite personal use of the PPE was to provide a massage of my penis and scrotum, almost as a warmup before a masturbation session.
The head of the PPE is flexible, but that requires a bit of explanation. The shaft of the head bends and gives when pressure is applied to it, but the head can’t be bent into a fixed position. A user is going to be required to hold the vibrator in order to get it into the optimal play position, rather than just bend it into shape.
It isn’t a corded, heavier vibe and it’s not meant to be.
This is an important point. The PPE isn’t a corded, heavier vibe and it’s not meant to be. It’s meant to be the midpoint between smaller, cordless vibes and their bigger cousins. Someone that wants a lot of bells and whistles in a vibrator may want something bigger, a corded vibe or ironically, may want the smaller Palm Power vibe.
The Palm Power Extreme doesn’t accept any attachments. I’ve read a couple of reviews that indicated that the PPE had a removable head. This isn’t true, the head of the vibrator can’t be removed for cleaning. I actually think that’s a good feature, because the area around the head of the vibe is closed, which means no crevices to collect dirt.
In the Bag
Due to the pandemic, I’m not currently attending play events, nor am I engaging when it comes to in person scenes at this time. Because of that, I haven’t had the chance to use the Palm Power Extreme in a kink scene with a dedicated partner.
When looking for a vibrator to use in a kink or BDSM scene, there are a couple of features which are important. First and foremost, the vibe should be portable, because you may play in a spot where there’s no access to an outlet. Secondly, you want a toy that offers features and a decent amount of power to go along with the portability so you have options when it comes to a scene. Third, you want something that is easy to clean, non toxic and body safe.
Perfect for orgasm or sensation play scenes in the dungeon, bedroom, outside or wherever your play may take place.
The PPE checks all of these boxes. It holds a charge for a good length of time and recharges quickly. It produces enough sensations to work adequately for scenes (it won’t disappoint). With its silicone construction, and water resistance, the PPE is easy to clean and can be used with a condom.
The PPE would be a welcome addition to my toybag. The PPE would be perfect for orgasm or sensation play scenes in the dungeon, bedroom, outside or wherever your play may take place.
It’s sturdy construction means it would survive being dropped and it would be easy to clean after the conclusion of a scene, especially on the go. When I used the PPE I did so with lube, and I didn’t have any issues controlling or cleaning the toy afterward. The PPE holds a charge really well, so I’d be confident that it would be ready when needed. Using a PPE in a kink scene is a vast improvement over using a smaller, less power, battery operated toy.
The Takeaway
The Palm Power Extreme is a keeper. It updates and improves everything that’s great about the standard Palm Power vibrator, while remaining portable, functional, cleanable and powerful. As I said previously, this isn’t meant to replace larger vibrators. It is meant to provide versatility, when needed. I’d recommend the PPE as a welcome addition to your vibrator (or toybag) collection. Get a little extreme and always keep it kinky!
